Carna4 Flora4 Product Review

Carna4 FLora4 ground powderThe pet industry is brimming with health supplements, remedies, and products intended to improve the overall well-being of our pets. Among the myriad of options, there is one product that, nutritionally, stands above the rest: organic sprouted seeds.

Sprouted seeds are nature’s super-food powerhouses, and are among the healthiest, and most nutritionally-dense foods on Earth. They are low in calories, loaded with antioxidants, and rich in nutrients and valuable plant compounds. Proteins found in sprouts are easier to digest, and sprouted seeds contain elevated levels of valuable dietary fibre.

Sprouts come from the earliest stages of plant growth; shortly after seeds germinate, they become sprouts. It is at this vital stage stage of growth where a sprout unlocks considerably higher levels of digestible protein, enzymes, vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals compared to their adult form.

In terms of greatness, sprouted seeds could be considered the Tom Brady of plant-based nutrition.

A pet’s pH level is among the body’s most essential balance systems. It is believed that no disease, including cancer, can exist in an alkaline environment. Sprouts are alkalizing, which may play a role in defending against tumors and cancer, as these diseases put the body in a state of acidity. In addition, most commercial pet foods have acidic PH levels, which may put a pet at increased risk for health problems, like stone formation, skin and coat problems, and more.

While some pet owners take to growing sprouted seeds for their pets, the reality is most pet owners are simply too busy, and often prefer a ready-made product. Carna4’s Flora4 makes pet super-food supplementation an easy and convenient solution.

Flora4 is a Canadian-made organic sprouted seed supplement, and is widely considered one of the finest wellness supplements in the pet industry today. Consisting of a raw organic sprouted seed blend of ground barley seed, flaxseed, and lentils, Flora4 can be added daily (or as-needed) to a pet’s diet. It can be sprinkled onto any food – kibble, canned, dehydrated, raw, and home-cooked – to add that particular nutritional boost that can only come from whole plant foods.

What makes Flora4 so special?

Flora4 supports a healthy digestive system. Most of a dog’s immune system is located in their gut. Flora4 contains biologically active plant-based enzymes to support healthy gut flora. The combination of high-quality dietary fibre, natural enzymes, and probiotics support consistent, well-formed stools. Flora4 is ideal for pets with sensitive stomachs. It is also a great remedy for correcting digestive issues, like unexpected bouts of diarrhea.

Flora4 contains soluble fibre. Soluble fibre is a integral to the health of the large intestine. Not only does soluble fibre keep your pet feeling full longer, it also aids in digestive health. Soluble fibre acts as a sponge, absorbing excess water in the intestines, aiding in healthy bowel formation. The fibre in sprouted seeds contain prebiotics, acting as fuel for the beneficial bacteria in the digestive tract.

Flora4 is loaded with beneficial bacteria. Sprouted seeds are packed with naturally occurring probiotics. Probiotics are live microorganisms that fulfill many essential roles pertaining to gut health. Probiotics are widely believed to aid in the treatment and prevention of disease and illness, particularly those associated with the gut. This valuable bacteria also restricts the growth of harmful bacteria, like E. coli and Salmonella. Healthy bacteria levels in the gut have many benefits: improved behaviour and mood, skin and coat health, bowel function, gas reduction, and weight loss. Commercial probiotic supplements often contain synthetics and manufactured substances that seldom perform as well as the real thing. Raw-derived probiotics are substantially more bio-available, meaning they are more readily absorbed within the intestine.

Making any diet complete. Flora4 is a very versatile supplement; being so nutritionally dense, it can be added to virtually any pet food to make it complete. This is especially important for pets on home-cooked and raw diets, as Flora4 will help remedy nutritional insufficiency. Many commercially-made kibbles use low-quality, highly-processed ingredients, so adding Flora4 to kibble is an effective way of providing live, bio-available nutrition from raw sources – just as nature intended.

Flora4 is available in 18oz (510g) resealable bags, and single-serve 1.5oz (43g) packets.

  1. My dog is in renal failure she is on royal canine renal support…$131 a month..im on ODSP. PLEASE HELP…

  2. I’ve transitioned my dogs to CArna 4 dry food. They love it. Will there be added benefits if I include the Carna 4 grounded sprouts into their diet?

    1. Hello, Maz. Thank you for your post.

While most dogs do exceptionally well on Carna4, some dogs may need a little extra support from a supplement like Flora4. For example, if you are feeding Carna4, and your dog has a dull coat, Flora4 will remedy that issue.

I hope you find this helpful, Maz.

  3. Thanks for this article. I’ve been transitioned my puppy from TLC to carna 4 but noticed he is having at times very soft brown/ orange colored stool. Is this color change because of the kibble? Wondering if this is normal. He seems to be fine otherwise and very active. Do you have any suggestions?

    1. Hello, Gesille. Thank you for your post.

It is difficult to say what is causing the stool issues. Carna4 is among our most highly digestible foods. Soft stools can be a result of overfeeding, so this is something we should rule out first, considering all consumables (food, treats, people food, etc).

As far as the orange colour you mention, I cannot see how the Carna4 would be causing that. I will need more information before I can form an opinion on this matter.

      Thank you. Gesille.

  4. We are feeding our 8 week old puppy raw food. How can we transition to kibble (Carna4) without him having to have diarrhea?

    1. Hello, Luke. Thank you for posting. Congratulations on your new puppy!

With regards to transitioning your pup from raw to Carna4 dry food, the slower you transition, the less likely your pooch is to have digestive upset. Consider starting with 1/4 Carna4 with 3/4 raw, and over the course of 7-10 days, gradually increase the amount of Carna4 while decreasing the raw. Slow and steady wins the digestive race! Carna4 is among the most easily digestible dry foods on the market, so I do not have concerns about your puppy transitioning well.

I hope you find this information helpful, Luke. I am at your service if you have any further questions.

  5. This was very helpful. It’s difficult to find good information not driven by the product manufacturers. Thank you
