Finding the best probiotic supplements for dogs can be difficult, considering how many great products are available on the market today! That’s why our experts have chosen the top five best options for probiotic and prebiotic supplements in Canada.

Probiotics are live bacterial cultures essential for proper digestion, and prebiotics are what fuel them. Together, they can optimize your dog’s digestion and gut health, improving nutrient absorption, stool consistency, and overall well being.

Not all dogs require probiotic supplementation; many have excellent overall gut health from a complete and balanced diet. However, in today’s age of highly processed kibbles, and breed-specific ailments, almost all dogs can benefit from a boost in prebiotics and probiotics.

Here are the top 5 probiotic & prebiotic dog supplements in Canada:

  1. Hi
I’m hoping you can help me. I was at the vet last week with my dog who, when I adopted her, was told she has IBD. She has has dark bloody stools for 3 weeks now. I’ve been feeding her boiled chicken & rice but it’s not helping. Is there a supplement I could give her or a food you could recommend? I’m heading back to the vet with her tomorrow for testing to see if anything else is going on. Thanks!

    1. Hello, Diane. Thank you for reaching out.

With regards to supplements to help digestion, Flora4 is among my top recommendations.

With regards to food, there are plenty of high quality, easily digestible foods to consider. Some of my favourite include:

FirstMate’s grain-friendly line of chicken, lamb, duck, and fish.
      Go Sensitivities.

Please give that some consideration and let me know if you have any questions or comments.
